Top Ukraine Gas Official Warns Of Conflict If Russia's Gazprom Stops Using Ukraine As A Gas Transit To Europe

This could also have geopolitical consequences for the entire world, Yuriy Vitrenko says.

There's a danger that the shutdown of gas transit via the Ukrainian territory will increase the risk of a large-scale conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Yuriy Vitrenko, the sales manager of Naftogaz Ukraine company said this to 112 Ukraine TV channel in an interview.

'We are now making sure that European politicians are aware of this issue as well; they should realize not only the economic consequences of this for Ukraine but also geopolitical consequences for the entire world', he said.

Russia has made it very clear that they will not ship gas via through Ukraine by 2019. The loss in revenue .... and not being able to obtain gas at a reasonable rate .... is now at risk for the Ukraine government..

It is a one sided conflict.

At some point Ukraine will go asymmetric.

Russia has more going on than Ukraine, but Russia cannot mess with everyone with equal effort and it should leave an opening at some point.
