CBS: Russians destroyed and removed material from shuttered compounds, officials say

WASHINGTON -- When U.S. officials entered shuttered Russian compounds in Maryland and New York last December, they found damaged materials that could have been used in intelligence gathering and that former officials say could have been useful in the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The compounds, which had been used for decades as retreats for Russian diplomats, were shut down by the Obama administration as part of a package of punitive measures in response to Russia's meddling in the election. The White House expelled 35 diplomats, saying at the time they were targeted because of ongoing harassment of U.S. personnel in Russia.

Update: Material useful to Russia probe destroyed in US compounds: report (The Hill)

WNU Editor: How can the media make the claim that the destroyed equipment and empty filing cabinets at these former Russian compounds could have helped in the Russian probe is beyond me .... but they are making it.

WNU,
Love the above photo. Appropriately dark and foreboding.

If the MSM come clean now, the liberals rank & file will burn them at the stake.

There is sunk cost in economics and there is a sunk cost, when it comes to political factions.

Sunk costs do, in fact, influence actors' decisions because humans are prone to loss aversion and framing effects. In light of such cognitive quirks, it is unsurprising that people frequently fail to behave in ways that economists deem "rational".

Aizino,
Maybe so. The MSM is starting to buckle (see CNN doing a retraction on a anti-Trump story).

Thanks, Aizino. However, this is not Kindergarden..so next time, try to reach a bit higher than a Wikipedia article on sunk cost ffs..embarrassing at best...half serious, half teasing you :)

Commie Anon,

There are actually 2 links.

Maybe if you knew something about anything, you would have recognized the 1st link as being a hypertext markup language link (HTML) to TV tropes. I liked the example they used. So I chose that website.

TVtropes is very important website. It is far more important than a commietard like yourself realizes.

My 2nd link
When you look at the tropes and memes of actors who stage public performances on public squares in medieval and renaissance Italy, they seem to have had predictable plays with stock characters. It seems stupid.

Of course this is the modern age and we are so sophisticated. We have Hollywood and ...

Hollywood is no different than those public square performance of 500 years ago. the character are stock characters and the plays follow a predictable formula.

I give Hollywood allowances. there are budget & time constraints. There are constraints of the viewing angle of the camera lens. So for example when soldiers in a battle scene are packed to closely together, well I ignore that.

One of the tropes I hate is when American helicopters fly in, an American commanders strolls out and tells another countries border guards to let refugees in.

Examples 'Tears of the Sun' & '3 Kings'

I did a google search using the terms 'sunk' & 'cost'. I ignored the Investopdedia site, because we have so many snowflake communists here. Not real communist like WNU or more spouse, who know what communism is. No just dreamers, grass is always greener on the other side types, and the easy brainwashable.

But whatever, the snowflakes were going to complain no matter what and here you are!

Imagine that!

James,

IMHO the retractions would have to be north of 50% for the change in business practices to be believable.

The retractions cannot be buried either and not insincere.

James said...

Aizino,
What you say is true, but they did retract and sincere or not that's almost unthinkable. They may try to fall back on the argument that there is a difference between "fake" news and "mistaken" news, but they still had to retract.
