More Claims That Russia Is Providing Military Support To The Afghan Taliban

FOX News: Evidence of Russian military support for Afghan Taliban is growing

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghanistan villagers caught in Taliban territory in the northern province of Kunduz, by the border of Tajikistan, recently began reporting unmarked helicopters at night landing and leaving quickly from known Taliban hideouts, or at least areas outside of government control.

Others spoke of smugglers bringing in shipments of small boats across the quiet river, called Panj on the Tajikistan side and Amu on the Afghanistan, between the two countries.

It didn't take long before suspicions arose of an international outfit at play. The locals feared going close to the tightly controlled Taliban enclaves to investigate. Around the same time, reports from the U.S. started growing that Russia was once again meddling in Afghanistan -- this time by arming the Taliban.

Update: Regional Countries Funding The Taliban: Kandahar Police Chief (TOLO News)

WNU Editor: I for one would be surprised if Russia is providing military equipment to the Taliban. Many Russians are still bitter about the Soviet war in Afghanistan .... if word got out that Moscow was supporting the Taliban, the backlash against Putin would be enormous.

Yeah.

This seems very counter-productive to any agenda the Russians might have. And your right, the backlash would be significant.

This is more in line with some anti-US party possibly attempting to undermine Russian-US relations further.

Jay,

Quite right. Part of plan B includes the false claim that Russia colluded with team Trump during the election. The problem is they picked an enemy with several thousands nuclear weapons, one of the best intelligence services in the world, and one of the best led, best trained, and most motivated militaries in the world.

While blaming ones ails on a "foreign devil" is nothing new in world history, it is generally a bad idea to pick one so formidable when your own military is worn down and broken from continuing fruitless operations around the world, your intelligence services are managed and staffed by a combination of incompetent boobs and political hacks, your nuclear arsenal is in need of maintenance and modernization and the forces in charge of them have poor morale and suffer from lack of training, you're deep in national debt, your infrastructure is crumbling, and your economy is generally poor.

Then along comes DJT with a wealth of contacts with powerful Russian officials suggesting we might like make peace or something like that. After the last meeting between team Trump and top Russian officials where it was suggested lets make peace no wonder certain elements had to amp up the fantasy of Russian interference in the US election.

Vladimir Putin had this pegged right. These people suffer from "schizophrenia." Part of that is seeing things that aren't there. Frankly, HRC and the Democrats are not important enough that Russia would actively collude to steal an election from them. There is a mental illness that describes people who think they are more important than they really are. This one also fits the Democrats quite well too.
