New York Post: A rare, tantalizing peek into Putin’s secret family life

Last week at Moscow’s waterfront World Trade Center, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave his annual news conference. He spoke to some 1,400 journalists on issues ranging from corruption to foreign policy, but it was comments about his two adult daughters — Maria, 30, and Katerina, 29 — that really shocked the audience.

When a reporter asked about their whereabouts and lives, Putin provided what, from him, passes for illumination.

“They live in Russia and have never lived anywhere other than Russia permanently,” he said, his face frozen and expressionless — allegedly the result of a facelift and too many Botox injections.

“They studied only at Russian universities. I am proud of them. They continue to study and work. My daughters speak three European languages fluently. One of them can even speak one or two Oriental languages. They are making their first steps and are successful.”

WNU Editor: This is old news .... and typical of the West of always being months (and sometimes years) behind the gossip/news on what is happening in Russia. Case in point .... as to rumours on the the birth of Putin's daughter this March .... I made sure that the regular readers of this blog knew the answer before anyone else .... The Real Reason Why Russian President Putin Disappeared This Week (March 13, 2015).

On a side note .... it is true that much of Putin's personal life is kept secret .... and in my opinion it is done legitimately for security reasons. My family is in the fortunate position of knowing a lot of people in Moscow, and over the years I have been surprised on hearing certain details on Putin's personal life that I would never make public .... and no it is not scandalous .... just a matter of security and common sense. Just as I would never post anything on this blog that would put Western/Russian/etc. soldiers at risk .... I have the same rule when it comes to its leaders and politicians.

Update: Someone just asked me on what would I not post .... my commentary from 2008 still sums up my position. The link is here.

Update on the Update: David Axe runs the website War Is Boring and is also a syndicated writer (Reuters, Daily Beast, etc.), and who I have gotten to know over the years. Wikileaks is still Wikileaks.
