(Reuters) - A former senior Chinese military officer was obsessed with gold and often ferried gold bars for bribes in a luxury car, a Hong Kong magazine reported on Monday, in connection with a graft case which investigators estimate is worth some $5 billion.

My Comment: Considering all the money that he passed around .... this General has a lot of friends .... Gu Junshan backers tried to protect corrupt ex-general: Luo Yuan (Want China Times) .... but his days are clearly numbered. On a side note .... I suspect that this case is just the tip of the iceberg. On one of my trips to China (and this was about 12 years ago) I was introduced to a high ranking Chinese General whose son wanted to study at McGill University in Montreal (where I now live). OMG!!!! This guy's home would put Larry Ellison's home to shame.
