My Comment: I definitely concur with President Obama. In 1988 I was living in Fujian province, China (it is across from Taiwan). One the first things that I noticed about the Chinese was that most of them would go out for a walk after supper. I also learned that on one day of the week from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM .... the streets were completely deserted. After a few weeks of noticing this trend I asked my hosts (who also disappeared during this time) on why was this case. Their answer .... that was when the TV program Dallas with the character of J.R. Ewing was on (they were getting their TV signals from Taiwan). In the minds of the Chinese their perception of what life was like in America .... cars, big houses, nice clothes, abundance of food, healthy people, the good and bad of America, etc. .... was embodied by this TV program.
