A Battle Brews Over CIA Pick -- Wall Street Journal

As the battle over Chuck Hagel's confirmation as defense secretary winds down, another appears to be just heating up: Republicans are threatening to block the nomination of John Brennan to lead the Central Intelligence Agency.

The Senate on Tuesday voted to end a filibuster on Mr. Hagel's nomination, a move that resolved a fight that was partly about Mr. Hagel's qualifications and partly about the administration's handling of foreign-policy issues.

The GOP has used its leverage in the Senate confirmation process to put pressure on the Obama administration and extract information about last year's attack in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead.
